Module 5: Marriage and Family Life (9 assignments)

Week 1

MEMORY: Why did you fall in love with your spouse? What attracted you to him/her? What do you love now about your spouse? Write how your love and relationship have grown and evolved.

PHOTO: Digitally scan or save and label a picture of you with your sweetheart during your courtship. Label with complete names, dates, and location.

OR

MEMORY: Did you marry? If not, was there a specific reason? If you have experienced divorce, write about the circumstances and share your feelings.

 

Week 2

MEMORY: Recall your wedding day. Use descriptive language to paint a picture of the day- the wedding ceremony, the reception, any other activities with family. What do you remember feeling? Do you recall any words of counsel at your ceremony? If you went on a honeymoon, write your memories.

PHOTO: Digitally scan or save and label at least one wedding photo, your marriage certificate and/or marriage license. Label with complete names, dates, and location.

Week 3

MEMORY: What do you remember about the first year of your marriage? Write about special times, funny memories, challenges.

PHOTO: Digitally scan or save and label a photo from early married life, or any other photo of you as a couple. Label with complete names, dates, and location.

 

Week 4

MEMORY: Tell about your children’s births. Write about the circumstances, being specific with names and dates. How did you feel when each of your children was born? Take your time and leave a legacy of love for them!

PHOTO: Digitally scan or save and label baby photos of each of your children. Label with complete names, dates, and location.

 

Week 5

MEMORY: For each of your children: Recall special memories with them and significant events in their lives. Tell of their attributes and what you admire about them. Write your love and feelings for them. This will be a treasured legacy… spend as much time as you need for it to be meaningful!

PHOTO: Digitally scan or save and label photos of your children when they were young. Label with complete names, dates, and location.

 

Week 6

MEMORY: How do you celebrate your wedding anniversary? Write about at least one memorable anniversary.

PHOTO: Digitally scan or save and label photos of you and your spouse, with or without children. Label with complete names, dates, and location.

 

Week 7

MEMORY: Write about trials and challenges your family has faced. How have you handled sorrow and difficulty?

PHOTO: Digitally scan or save and label a photo that has meaning to you, and write its story. And/or scan a newspaper clipping or document from your life. Label with complete names, dates, and location.

 

Week 8

MEMORY: Write about religious observance and practice in your home. What personal or family rituals help build and maintain faith? What do they mean to you? Write how you feel about your faith.

PHOTO: Digitally scan or save and label photos or documents that represent people, places or activities that are important in your life. Tell their stories. Label with complete names, dates, and location.

 

Week 9

MEMORY: Write your feelings about the family you built. Take time to ponder and reflect before writing. What will you want your posterity to know about your relationship and feelings for your spouse, children and grandchildren?

PHOTO: Digitally scan or save and label any remaining family photos or documents that you want preserved. Be sure to label with complete names, dates, and location. If a photo has a story, write it!
